Student Concerns

The topic of children of students not being allowed to be in the classrooms was discussed.

 

Employee Search Updates

 

Two candidates for the Wellness Coordinator position will be interviewed on campus soon.

 

Tim reported that the Admissions and Records Director position candidates will be on campus next week.  He gave names, dates and times that the candidates will be here.  Student Services will have an opportunity to meet with each candidate.

 

Christine announced that the English position at JCC is being finalized and that she has been named to chair the Dean of Students search.

 

 

Dean’s Updates

Danita asked that furniture needs be turned in to her so that they can be sent to David White.

 

Danita announced that office flex hours will be observed this summer due to the extreme heat that is expected without air conditioning in the campus buildings.  She noted that ice cream and popsicles will be served often.

 

Faculty contracts dates for fall will begin the week before classes.

 

A 2008 PFAT Teleconference will be presented on Friday, March 7, 2008.  Danita invited anyone interested to sit in on the event.

 

Committee Updates

Leslie noted that a Graduation Committee will be scheduled soon.

 

Cathy announced that on Wednesday, April 9, the Social Justice Committee is sponsoring Dr. Edith Rechter Levy, as a guest speaker on campus.  Ms. Levy is a Holocaust survivor.

 

Danita will present a ten minute program to the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Board of Advisors on campus Monday, March 10.

 

Danita, Pam, and Tom will attend a meeting on the Drug Free Act in Morgantown on Monday, March 17.  The Governor’s Alcohol Summit will be held in April.

 

A number of CREW members will be attending the HEPC Retention Conference in Charleston on Tuesday, March 18.

Miscellaneous

Pam stated that she needs 24 baseball hats for the tobacco summit.

 

A Banner outage is scheduled for Sunday morning 5:30 a.m. – 9 a.m.

 

Sandy presented an article on Career Services.

 

Tim noted that a Women’s Self-Defense class was presented on Wednesday’s Student Engagement.

 

Leslie and Sandy are working on Washington State transfer issues.

 

Tom noted that information on the jingle contest and the rules have been distributed.

 

Augie noted that Heather will be returning from maternity leave on Monday and a VETS Upward Bound program is being planned.

 

Two counselors from Westbrook will be on campus two days a week for our students.

 

Leslie presented a program on Strategic Enrollment Management.

 

Chris Kimes will present at next weeks meeting.

 

 

HB 3215 Updates

Danita presented an update on HB3215 which removes all WV community from affiliation with four year institutions.  West Virginia University at Parkersburg is fighting to be removed from the bill so that they may stay as a WV regional campus.  The legislative session ends on Saturday.
