Student Concerns

HB 3215

CREW discussed the fact that students are calling with concerns about their degrees and the name that West Virginia University at Parkersburg will be called.  Danita said that these concerns will be addressed in an e-mail to students and also in a TV and newspaper interview.

 

 

Employee Search Updates

Danita reported that the Wellness Coordinator position has been narrowed to 2 candidates.  Interviews will begin next week.

 

Tim reported that the Admissions and Records search has interviewed one candidate, and the second candidate is on campus today and a third will be interviewed on March 19.

Dean’s Updates

The Chamber of Commerce has offered to sponsor a career fair/open house in April.

 

 

January 2, may be a Floating Holiday in 2009.

 

Shorts that are professional looking will be allowed this summer during the heating and air reconstruction.

 

On March 20th at 2pm a Webinar *(ask Danita) will be presented.  It will deal with the making of Web based Student Services.  Call Danita if interested.

 

Tuesday, March 25th the SWAT team will be on campus.  Anyone not involved in the program should leave campus by 4 p.m.

 

 

Leslie has ordered a skirt for the bell. 

 

Cindy Kelley has just been selected as an ACE Fellow.

 

A Student Engagement meeting was held on Wednesday for next years program development.

Committee Updates

 

Department Updates

The new Financial Aid office space is being renovated.

 

Chris will take a group of students, who are interested in transferring, to Morgantown on April 3rd and 4th to tour the campus.

 

WVU representatives will be here next week to assist with transfer.

 

We are moving toward mandatory Orientation for new students. 

 

Tom said the jingle contest is under way.

 

JCC had an International Lunch for students on March 12th   The lunch was well attended according to Christine Post.

 

Pam Santer presented Tobacco information at JCC last week.

Christine reported that they are finalizing the JCC English position.

 

Christine will be presenting the GUS program at the Retention Conference next week.

 

Pam thanked everyone for supplying hats for next weeks conference.  And she is exploring the possibility of a family fitness fun day.

 

Augie reported that Heather has returned from maternity leave.  Financial Aid is beginning to work on Fall Processing.  Augie and Jeff will be attending a spring Financial Aid conference the end of March.  Heather and Jeff attended a computer update workshop in Fairmont on Wednesday.

 

Leslie reported that Admissions and Records are building a communication plan with our students.  Leslie will be going to Retention Conference next week.  She is all working on PIQ revisions.

 

Sandy – Discussed using student lounge as an area to present informational films.

 

Cathy – Discussed the issue of make-up tests and where students take them.

 

Danita will be out on Friday, Monday and Tuesday of next week.

 

Chris presented a staff development program titled: “The use of Facebook and Myspace as a Retention Tool.”
