Updates

Christine reported that Phi Theta Kappa will sponsor a Health Fair  on Friday at JCC.

Allison said that employees will be able to have low cost blood test done on campus November 27, 2007.  The charge will be $25.

Tom reported that the WV Fan Day during Student Engagement on Wednesday went very well.  A Tail Gate Party will be held tonight for the WV vs. Louisville ball game.  The Student Government sold refreshments at a train show on Saturday.

Sandy announced that students from Dodridge County will be here next Tuesday to attend an information session.  Wood County Career Day will be held on December 19.

Augie reported that he and Jeff attended an AES Fall Workshop in Charleston on Tuesday of this week. They learned that there is a possibility that freshmen will not be allowed to borrow more that one loan a year.  This will eliminate eligibility for freshmen to receive loans for summer session.  West Virginia University at Parkersburg is #1 in the state for HEAPS dollars disbursed.

Chris announced that the Advising Center is very busy registering students.   A new scholarship has been created.  He will be at JCC on Monday.

Cathy reported that she had attended a very informative ADA National Conference in Salt Lake City, Utah.  She discussed some of the issues relevant to West Virginia University at Parkersburg and noted that she will present more information at a later date to the staff.  The group discussed the fact that we do not have a ramp for graduation.

Tim reported that college tours for transitions students are being scheduled before the end of the semester.

He noted that our Education students are having scheduling conflicts with the PRAXIS test dates.  January 12 is a new date this year that is causing the conflict.  Next year we will have a September and January date with an April 2008 make up date.

Only eight of the computers in the Testing Center are now available for use.  Tim stressed the need to allocate dollars each year for computer replacement.

Tim also discussed new General Education requirements.  He also suggested that we might consider beginning an “Advisor of the Month” program.

Technical Center visits will be on the West Virginia University at Parkersburg campus December 4, 6, and 7.  Violet will contact us for assistance.

Christine, Danita, and Sandy will attend WVCCA at Pipestem next week.

Our next crew meeting will be held on November 29, 2007.

VALUES

Service, Trust, Respect, Integrity were the four words that CREW members decided they would use to create a value statement.

We will develop sentence for each of the four values.

Definitions

Mission – What we do – who we are.

Vision – What we would like to be or where we would like to go.

Value – What we uphold, what we have and what we value.
