TOPIC                              DECISION/STATUS

Staff Mental Health

Danita asked CREW how the semester was going and how their staff’s are holding up mentally.

-Tim discussed a problem that exists in advising for pre-nursing students that are close to being admitted to the program – Nursing is not advising these students.

Committees

Tom reported updates on the moves that will be taking place in the next two weeks: Violet, Jan, Connie, and Dennis.

-The switchboard will be updated over Spring break.

-New flooring will be installed in the Multipurpose Room.

-There will be no heat or air in the summer.  Classes will be held in Caperton – CCE, early morning and late afternoon.

-Financial aid will move during the summer.

-Door ways for wheel chair accessibility is being examined.

-The cafeteria is being reversed.

-New copiers for print shop are being considered.

-Ideas were discussed for the front area of the building, such as, a memorial area.

-Students said that 80% of students surveyed noted that they want tables and chairs in classrooms rather than desks.

-Social Justice Committee presented a wonderful MLK program.  Over 40 volunteers attending the Worthington School update as a service project .

-Tim reported that there are bills in the House and Senate to up increment pays.  Tim encouraged everyone to contact their representative to encourage the pay raises.

-Cathy discussed WVU Faculty Senate issues.

-Tom asked for a volunteer to make Chili for Wednesday, January 30th Student Engagement.

Enrollment

Danita reported enrollment is up 1.4% above last year.

-E-campus has been a very big issue with students this semester.

-Danita distributed an outline describing the E-campus agreement.  Student issues concerning E-campus should be directed to WVU help desk.

Other

 

Pam reported that she is still in the process of getting the Wellness Office open and functioning.

-The Health Fair this year will be February 6th, in the Multipurpose Room.  There will also be a job fair and Red Cross blood drive.

-Pam is scheduling AED and CPR training, she also reported that she is seeing mental health issues with students already this semester

 

Augie reported that 1700 cards were mailed to students for the first financial aid distribution.  We are paying out approximately $4 million this semester.

-A committee is being arranged to outsource financial aid payments.

 

 

 

Tom reported that a Comedy Club was held on Saturday and that the students participated in a volunteer day at Worthington School on Monday.  A blood mobile will be here February 6th.

-A Coffee House activity will be held tomorrow night at 7-9 pm in the lounge.  Donations for Relay for Life will be accepted.

 

 

 

Leslie reported that the Record Office is mainly business as usual.  She will meet with Cecelia tomorrow.

-Asked if anyone was interested in a Conference for Women in Charleston on March 19th.

-Reports are being completed so that Board Reports can be prepared.

 

 

 

 

Tim noted that a Job Fair will be held in conjunction with the Health Fair on February 6.

-A large career fair will be held in April in conjunction with other agencies.

 

 

 

Sandy discussed showing a new film on the making of an FBI agent.

 

 

Cathy reported this has been a bumpy semester with a few students getting started.

 

 

Drema noted that registration in the Advising Center is winding down and that it is very hard to get hold of e-class instructors.

 

 

-Danita reported that the first Staff Development Day for CREW will begin February 29th

-Starting February 28th each CREW member will be responsible for a 20-25 minute presentation on your department. This presentation could be your strategic plan and/or something cutting edge/ current in your field.  Karen will prepare a sign up sheet and will be on her desk.

-Pandemic Flu Plan is due reports are due tomorrow.  What would you do to communicate and serve our students before, during and after a disaster.

-Roane Jackson Technical Site visit next Thursday January 31st.  There will be no CREW next week.

-Danita is reviewing professional plans and goals.
