OLD BUSINESS

CASINO NIGHT – Volunteers are still collecting donations from area businesses and plans are being finalized. Date is set for Friday, October 18, 2002. Doors open at 6:00. Gambling is from 6:30 – 8:30. The auction for the prizes starts at 8:30. You may be purchase advance tickets this week. Five dollars will buy you $ 6,000.00 in gambling money. Admission will be $ 6.00 at the door and you will receive $ 5,000.00 in gambling money.

AMERICAN SAMPLER – The two-day show will be on November 15th and 16th. We have reserved tables for 14 crafters so far and expect many more. As usual, the bake sale will be Friday and Saturday if we have enough baked donations to sell. Hot dogs, chips, pop, and possibly chili will be sold on Saturday if volunteers can be found to work the booth.

A motion was made and voted unanimously in favor of purchasing plywood with Activity Fund money to construct a more durable sign that can be used year after year. Donna Uhl will be in charge of this project.

STAFF APPRECIATION WEEK – Discussion was made at the last meeting about acquiring extra funds to finance the Staff Appreciation Week program. The Cake Decorating Contest/Raffle was chosen. Anyone can enter a Halloween-themed cake to be judged or just donated to this good cause. They will be displayed in front of President Bitterbaum’s office from 9:00-11:00 a.m. on October 30th. A panel of judges will pick the winners in various categories – spooky, gross, cute, ugly, and best store bought. The overall winner cake will also be chosen and available to purchase by silent auction.

All the cakes except the overall winner (unless the purchaser wants to share!) will be cut at around 11:00 a.m. and sold for 50 cents a piece. At this price you can afford to try a couple good ones.

MAGICAL NIGHT OF GIVING – Tickets are being sold by Sandi Smith, Jeanie Jones. Al Collins, Lauriel Edwards, Donna Uhl, Pam Clevenger. All profits go to Staff Council.

ACCE POSTCARD – Staff Council is still planning to sponsor a postcard campaign to get our concerns and issues out to the legislature.
