Staff Council Minutes

October 13, 2004

 

 

Present: Rodney Parker, Pat Mollohan, Becky Ash, Patsy Bee, Donna Uhl, Lauriel Edwards, Christine Post, Brenda Wells, Lisa Gianettino, Leslie Sims, Debbie Richards, Karen Branham.

 

Absent:  Doc Moore, Al Collins

 

Call to order and welcome by Rodney.

 

Minutes amended and approved by e-mail.  Debbie motioned and seconded by Donna.

 

BOA no meeting to report.

 

ACCE  Director of Mountaineer Temps James Morris spoke about the service, including how WVUP can use temps on our campus.  Margaret Buttrick spoke on Series 8, getting it in before Legislature convenes is not possible.  Pass out of Series 8 draft by Patsy.  ACCE website will be up soon and will be linked to all West Virginia colleges. ACCE will recommend to legislature full funding of pay scale and no more cuts in higher education.  Next meeting October 21^st in Charleston.

 

Discussion of amount to transfer to scholarship fund tabled till further information is collected.

 

No old business.

 

Dr. Gnage asks for two staff members to be on job review committees for Pam Braden and Dan Williamson.  Violet and Christine were appointed for Pam.  Rodney will request volunteer for Dan.

 

Donna reported that American Sampler has about 20 crafters so far.  There will be a Halloween cake contest.  A Thanksgiving basket made by Linda and filled with goodies will be raffled before Thanksgiving break.  Discussion on combining Appalachian Heritage Days with American Sampler.  Donna to speak to Greg Busch.

 

Christmas Lunch will be December 23.  Donna to chair committee.  She needs volunteers to help her.

 

Debbie presented new bylaws for Staff Council so that they will be in compliance with West Virginia State Code.  Debbie motioned and Leslie seconded to bring before staff assembly for discussion.

 

Magical Night of Giving is November 7^th at Grand Central Mall.  Tickets are five dollar, all of which goes to Staff Council.

 

Employee of the Month is Charlene McNulty.   Congratulations!!
