August 13, 2002

 JULY MINUTES:  A motion made by JB and seconded by Lauriel was approved by unanimous vote to accept the July minutes.

 TREASURER’S REPORT – Melody Mercer

            No report.  Next meeting will be September 30, 2002.

 ACCE REPORT – Violet Mosser

            No report.

 OLD BUSINESS

 WVEA MEETING – To be held on August 15, 2002.

 TOBACCO-FREE AFFIDAVIT DEADLINE – The extended deadline helped a few employees receive the discount premium.

 COIN COUNTER – Lauriel Edwards bought and donated to Staff Council a coin counter to be used in counting money from our fund raisers.  Thank you, Lauriel.

 YMCA CHALLENGE CUP – WVUP was unable to participate.  The Parkersburg Homecoming committee moved it up a week or two so they could have some of the events tie in with the Parkersburg Homecoming.

 NEW BUSINESS

 STAFF COUNCIL COMMITTEES

             CASINO NIGHT – Casino Night is tentatively scheduled for Friday, October 11, 2002.  We are in desperate need of volunteers to call local businesses or crafters for donations and/or pick up donated items.  If you know of any businesses in your area that might donate please see your staff council representative.  Please help make this a successful fund raiser.

             AMERICAN SAMPLER – The Sampler this year will be held on Friday and Saturday, November 15 & 16.  Please contact Donna Uhl as soon as possible if you would like to be on the committee. 

 STAFF DEVELOPMENT WORKSHOP QUESTIONAIRE – Please take a few minutes to respond to the questionnaire sent out by Margaret Bailey.  This project is very useful in determining and meeting the needs of staff development.  Your participation is appreciated.

 GOOD OF THE ORDER – Mary Lott, Administrative Associate, is the Employee of the Month for September, 2002.  Congratulations, Mary!
