STAFF COUNCIL MINUTES

FEBRUARY 9, 2005

 

 

PRESENT:  Rodney Parker, Pat Mollohan, Linda Cutright, Patsy Bee, Becky Ash, Lauriel Edwards, Christine Post, Debbie Richards, Lisa Gianettino, Leslie Sims, Al Collins

 

ABSENT:  Karen Branham, Violet Mossor, Doc Moore, Brenda Wells

 

GUEST:  Dr. Gnage

 

Welcome and call to order by Rodney.

 

Dr. Gnage announced the tower is to be repaired and glass added to the outside.  The bracing will be under the glass, but on the outside of the brick.  We are to get $2.7 million for this and the HVAC repairs.  The work is schedule for completion June 2006. The wood shed is to be painted with donated paint.  Dottie Bibbee and her students are doing an outside beautification project.  The inauguration will include a week of events in celebration of the college.  Dr. Bernie Allen will do a history of the college.  There will be a reception for the community after the inauguration.

 

Minutes for December approved.  Motion made by Patsy and seconded by Pat.

 

Minutes for January approved.  Motion made by Debbie and seconded by Al.

 

BOA Next meeting February 14^th.

 

ACCE Higher Education Day at the Legislature March 16, 2005.  Dennis Taylor wanted to have final draft for Series 8 completed in time to be approved by the Council, Commission, the LOCEA and the 2006 Legislature.  There is discussion of a 1.5% retirement increase. Current pay schedule is about 8% behind salary policy currently in place.  There will be a conference in June.  On the agenda will be a discussion about unionizing faculty and staff.

 

Treasurer’s Report approved as corrected.

 

June meeting at JCC changed to May.

 

The new election committee will be Wayne Riley, chair,  Stephen Hupp, and Martha Leeson.  We need to have vote on new bylaws ASAP.

 

Staff Appreciation Week committee to meet soon.   An additional $500 is to be allotted for this from American Sampler profits.  Proffitt’s is again selling discount tickets for $5.

 

Employee of the Month for March is Pam Clevenger.  CONGRATULATIONS!!
