Report on Enrollment Management:
Retention: Dr. Richards reported that the committee has looked at a lot of data, and has identified students that are at risk by looking at withdrawals, students on probation, mid-term grades, etc. They plan to work with faculty to focus on those students during the spring semester. The records office is working on a list of at-risk students that will be sent to each student’s advisor. A better website for the Learning Center is being designed. They are also working on a better schedule that will help students get the classes they need when they need them.
Recruitment: Dr. Brown reported that partnerships are being formed with Parkersburg High School and Parkersburg South High School to schedule “WVU Parkersburg Nights.” Students with WVU Parkersburg ID’s will be able to get in free to all events held at the high schools. There will also be a student ambassador program in the spring that will assist with student recruitment. The ambassadors will speak with students and give tours of the campus. They are also working on increasing Veterans Affairs, and supporting a structure to assist those that come home from IRAC.
Update on Grants
Over $4 million in grants have been submitted this semester including two DOL grants, Benedum Foundation grant, Fulbright Scholar grant, and several more. President Gnage asked members of the Planning Council to encourage faculty and staff to write grants.

President Gnage has asked each member of Council to look at each of the goals in the Institutional and Consortium Compact and provide strategies that are needed in each area represented by Planning Council members.

interested in taking the GED program at WVU Parkersburg.
President Gnage also noted that the American Association of Community Colleges is encouraging recruitment of students over 50. The college needs to be able to provide opportunities for retirees to take classes at the college.

V. Collaborate with public school system to increase the college-going rate in West Virginia.
Academic Area
· Faculty to Faculty connection very important – need to make effort to go to schools in seven-county region
Student Services
· Look at other places to recruit such as myspace.com
VI. Community and technical college consortium
President Gnage asked Council members to send the recommendations to Patsy Bee so a complete list will be developed for the January meeting.
At the next meeting the Code of Ethics will be finalized, and there will be a Visioning Exercise. She asked Council members to think about things we should do and where do we want to go.
With nothing further to be discussed, the meeting adjourned.
