Recruitment Target Areas

 

Decision/Status

The five essential target areas for recruitment were discussed and brainstorming took place to determine the best ways to reach these groups.

High School Faculty

·1 Develop newsletter

·2 Offer workshops on skills training.

·3 Host high school faculty luncheon

·4 Identify specific faculty and invite to campus i.e., principal or the superintendent.

·5 Target specific high schools and focus on entry requirements and faculty expectations in the classroom.

·6 Include students from the targeted school.

 

Veterans

·1 Develop newsletter

·2 Consult with Doug Weaver to determine how we can better serve our veterans.

·3 Secure names from the Bureau of Employment Services.

·4 Contact military recruiters.

·5 Increase advertisement.

·6 Reestablish veterans association.

·7 Use currently enrolled veterans to recruit.

·8 Develop additional on-line courses.

 

 

WIA

·1 Educate WIA providers

·2 Meet with WIA providers and give names of individuals on our campus to see.

·3 Offer Hit the Ground Running class.

 

 

Business – Coldwater Creek and Public Debt

·1 Check with BIDS about "for credit" classes.

·2 Identify courses needed.

·3 Set up table in lunchroom at the place of business to discuss career options.

·4 Encourage education for spouses and children.

·5 Encourage the endowment of a scholarship.

·6 Host speaker program off campus.

·7 Train their professionals (our academic area and BIDS join forces).

·8 Emphasize the co-op options available.

·9 Develop more certificate programs – host lunch to showcase these programs.

Adults – RBA

·1 Identify students out of school three years or longer with college credit.

·2 Emphasize that they will receive financial aid from West Virginia University at Parkersburg rather that WVU Morgantown.

·3 Assist in advising RBA students.

·4 Add half-time RBA staff.
