of Wood County Emergency Services, Marie Foster Gnage, Cathy Mutz, Christine
Post, Dave Cunningham, Craig Rabatin, Dan Williamson, Charlene McNulty, Al
Collins, Debbie Richards
Absent was: Joe Badgley, Lennie Moore, Suzanne Dietz, and
Gary Waggoner
The draft of the Flip Chart was distributed for
discussion. The Flip Chart is to be distributed during the Faculty
In-Service presentation.
Mr. Hupp had previously reviewed the document and said
that he thought it contained everything pretty well. He added that our
Security Personnel probably had already discussed with law enforcement
officers to see what they would need to have included in the document.
Additional Discussion included:
- Work Place Violence:
- Eliminate Be familiar with the WVU Workplace
Violence Policy and just include procedures.
- Change the contact phone number from Security Office
(Ext. 235) to the Switchboard 0 and if no response to call 911.
The Switchboard Operator is to serve as the dispatcher for the college and
will notify the appropriate personnel.
- May need to provide a check off sheet for operator
so that all the pertinent information can be relayed to appropriate
parties.
- Operator station will be manned during time of
college operations.
- Weather Emergency
- Replace with procedure that Connie Dziagwa has just
published via Internet.
- Demonstration/Civil Disturbance/Terrorism
- Change Campus Security Office number to Operator0
who is to serve as the college dispatcher.
- It would be helpful if a call is placed to 911 that
we also are aware of what is happening on campus. It was suggested
that we may be able to get a call back from 911, but it is also noted that
they may receive several related calls and may not be able to provide this
service.
- There is discussion between administrators regarding
Call Boxes to be located at strategic positions on campus that will dial
the Switchboard directly. Call boxes give the opportunity for the
college to evaluate the emergency prior to calling 911. Directions
could be placed next to the Call Boxes.
- Emergency Evacuation of Mobility Impaired Persons
- Faculty need to be able to tell handicapped persons
where the appropriate place to go would be and should take the students
there.
- Change (normally the elevator lobby ;) to the
nearest staircase.
- Injury/Death of Student, Staff or Faculty
- Change phone number to 0 then 911
- Loss of Building Utilities
- Change phone number to 0
- After hours to 0
- 24 hours dial 483-7975 or 483-7974 (these numbers
are automatically forward if there is no answer)
- Phone numbers are to be listed in priority
- Another consideration is that we sometimes lose
phone service when we lose electricity making the cell phones the only
means of communication
- Suspected Explosive Device
- Change phone number to 0
- Incorporate College policy
- Bomb Threat
- Change phone number to 0
- Crime in Progress
- Change phone number to 0 and if no response to 911
- Add dont get involved to Violence section
- Chemical Spill/Release, Chemical Spill/Release,
Biological (Small Spill), Radiation
Dave Cunningham and Bill Brown
to review and get updated info for Flip Chart
- Fire/Smoke
- Current policy describes the First Responders
Responsibilities. We need to use the policy in place.
- Change phone number to 0.
- Suspicious unopened letter or package.
- Change phone number to 0
We need to make sure the Flip Chart is simplistic as
possible. It is to give immediate information and details should be left
to policy.
Debbie gave a draft to the committee combing safety
policies of WVU P and WVU for review point out that there are some
differences.
