Secret Pal.  The Secret Pal program starts again June 23. If you enjoy giving and receiving gifts and cards, this is the program to sign up for. It is an opportunity to give and bring a smile to a co-worker. We try to remember our secret pal during their birthday, anniversary, (work and personal), busy time at work or just to wish them a great day! HEPC Seeks Input.  The Performance Management Committee of the Higher Education Policy Committee’s Personnel Study seeks input from administrators, managers, supervisors and staff on a performance evaluation form that could be used by all institutions. To review the form, go to http://intranet.wvu.edu/.  All comments regarding the design, content, use, purpose and format of the form should be directed by June 19 to Michelle Perkins, project coordinator, at perkins@hepc.wvnet.edu (Submitted by Peggy Jameson 5.22.08)

Cafeteria Notice. Effective immediately, AVI will no longer authorize charges for purchases in the cafeteria. The unpaid charges have steadily been rising and efforts to collect have been difficult. Only cash and credit card purchases will be authorized.  (Submitted by Wayne Riley 5.19.08)

Missing Video.  A social justice training video has been missing from the President's Office since mid-April. The title of the VHS video is "Affirmative Action Versus Reverse Discrimination." All Supervisors of Hourly Employees.  WVU at Parkersburg will implement a new time entry process called MAPTime for all hourly employees. This includes student workers, work study students, Mountaineer Temps, and any hourly employees who submit timesheets. Supervisors of these employees, please attend an informational session at 2 p.m., Wednesday, May 21st, in the Theatre for more details.  (Submitted by Melody Mercer 5.14.08)

Children's Literature Author.  The college's Education Division and Wood County Schools are cooperating to bring Joseph Bruchac, a well-known author of literature for children and young adults, to the area. On May 19, he will speak on campus to children from several Partnership Schools (12:30-1:30 p.m.) and to winners of the Wood County Young Authors contest (4 -6 p.m.). Education majors will provide interactive sessions as part of the late afternoon event. Bruchac specializes in preserving and promoting literature and information about Native Americans. He will sign books which will be available for sale in the Caperton Atrium, 2 -4 p.m. on May 19.  (Submitted by Martha McGovern 5.15.08)

Biggest Losers! The change has started and we are off to an exciting beginning. Monday, May 12th will be the first Fitness Session. There will be a session at 1:15 and one at 11:40. HLC Visit.  A two-person team, Dr. Daniel Phelan and Dr. Stephanie Bulger, from the Higher Learning Commission will visit campus May 5-6 to review our change request to offer four online degree programs (AAS in BTEC; AAS in Multi-Craft; AS in Business Administration; and Associate of Arts). They will be on campus Monday, May 5th and Tuesday, May 6th and have requested to meet with faculty, staff, and students in an open forum at 2:30 p.m., Monday in the College Theatre. We hope you will plan to attend and offer support for our online program request.
