Fax
Machine Relocation.
The facsimile machine that receives faxes from the
main college fax number (424-8315) has been relocated from the
Institutional Advancement office to the mailroom complex in the
Print Shop.

Combined Campaign.
The campus community contributed $1,719 toward the 2007 West
Virginia State Employees Combined Campaign. Thank you for
your generosity in supporting the charitable agencies that touch
many lives.

Additional
Holiday.
Governor Joe Manchin has declared an
additional holiday to be observed as half days for December
24 and 31. Since WVU at Parkersburg has already assigned
holiday time to these dates, staff (and 12-month faculty)
may observe the additional holiday on an individual basis
with prior supervisory approval by June 30, 2008.

Congratulations to
Lauriel Edwards, administrative associate, for the WVU
Parkersburg’s Business and Economic Division. Lauriel has
been selected as Employee of the Month for December.

Teaching
Demonstrations.
As part of the search process for the
position of English Faculty/Coordinator, the screening committee
extends an invitation to the campus community to attend teaching
demonstration for two of the candidates. The subject will
be English composition. The demonstrations will be held at
9 a.m., Tuesday (Dec. 11) with Sandra Kolankiewrocz and 11:30 a.m., Thursday, Dec. 13
with Arthur Bethea. A notice of the exact room
number where the demonstrations will take place will be posted
on the door to the community room by 8:45 a.m.

Materials.
A list of new library
materials is available on the library's web site. Click on the
"New Materials" link in the lower left corner of the main page.
Also, the library has funds in the acquisition budget for
purchase of books and other materials. Contact Stephen Hupp for

Mock
Disaster Communications Drill.
More than 200 participants are expected
to be involved in a mock disaster
exercise Saturday (Dec. 8) designed to
test the ability of multi-state
emergency responders to provide
communications in the event of a
disaster.

December's Payroll Deduction Winner.
Vicky Stilgenbauer has won a $25 gift
certificate from Heavenly Ham because
she’s a participant in the Payroll
Deduction Program. More than $900 in
prizes were distributed to payroll
deductees in 2007. Don’t forget - the
payroll deduction program is a great way
to support the new Child Development
Center. Forms are available at the
Foundation Office or by calling

Weather Advisory.
A
reminder regarding weather-related
campus closings: WVU Parkersburg rarely
closes. In the event a weather
delay/cancellation is necessary, check
by calling the switchboard (424-8000),
the toll-free number (1-800-WVA-WVUP) or
the Institutional Advancement Office
(424-8203). Also, the college web site
and intranet will list any
announcements. Area media will also
announce the college's status; verify
their information by using one of the
above-listed official notifications.
Decisions are made by 6 a.m. for day
classes and 3 p.m. for night.

was Employee of the Month for November.

Books for Africa.
Phi Theta Kappa will be collecting used
books for Africa at the end of the
semester. Please donate books that the
bookstore will not take back and leave
them in the box outside of Violet
Mosser's office or in the foyer of the
computer labs at JCC. These books are
used for schools in Africa and are sent
to Better World Books. PTK receives $.50
cents per eligible book and the students
in Africa benefit also. (Submitted by
