"In the Shadow of the Reich:
Nazi Medicine" will
be the last film on the schedule for
this semester's Social Justice
Awareness Film Series. It will be
shown on
Monday, April 9, in the
college theatre from 11:00 to 11:55
a.m. This chilling documentary
chronicles the step-by-step process
that led the medical profession in
the Third Reich down an unethical
road to genocide. The film is being
shown prior to Holocaust Remembrance
Day, which is April 15. (Submitted

Book Fair.
The
Children's Room is hosting a
Scholastic Book Fair April 2 - 6.
Books can be purchased at the tables
located in front of the Children's
Room. Hours are 9 am - 7 pm,
Monday-Thursday. Profits from the
sale of the books will help expand
the children's library. Questions,

24th for the 9th Annual VERY SPECIAL
ARTS FESTIVAL - "Strings 'n Things" at
WVU Parkersburg.

Relay for Life team
will provide lunch March 26-29. The menu
is Monday: Pizza and desserts; Tuesday:
casseroles and desserts; Wednesday: Hot
dogs on the grill and side dishes; and
Thursday: Breakfast. If anyone would
like to donate a dessert or an
ingredient for breakfast casseroles such
as eggs, cheese, sausage or bacon to
help defray expenses, please see one of
the team members. Any donations would be
appreciated. Lunch will be served at
11:30. Come hungry and as always, we
thank you for supporting this worthwhile

Signing. WVU
President David C. Hardesty Jr. will be
visiting WVU Parkersburg on April 2.

Outstanding Leadership.
In observance of
Women's History Month, the Social Justice
Committee invited nominations for Women's
Leadership Recognition on campus. Ten West
Virginia University at Parkersburg faculty,
staff and student women were nominated. To

Wine Class.
Corporate and Community Education
is offering "ABC's of Wine" on Thursday and
Friday (March 22-23) from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday
will involve classroom learning; Friday will
include wine tasting. To be held in the
Caperton Center, the class costs $40 and is

Student Productions.
An Evening of Original One-Act Plays will be
presented Friday & Saturday, March 23 & 24, in
the College Theatre at 8 p.m. A special "Sneak
Peek Performance & Discussion" offered
especially for WVU Parkersburg students will be
presented Thursday, March 22, at 8 p.m. A
discussion with the casts and directors will
follow the performance. All nine plays were
written and will be directed by WVU Parkersburg

"Space" Film Location
Moved. The location for the
"Women in Space" film scheduled for Monday,
March 19, at 11:00 a.m. has been moved to the

Maintenance Announcement.
WVNET will be performing
maintenance on the Internet and State Backbone
routers in Charleston on Saturday, March 17,
2007 at 5:00 AM. Outage time is expected to be
one (1) hour in length. This will affect
connectivity in the southern LATA (i.e.,
Charleston, Huntington, Beckley, Bluefield, and
Parkersburg.) for state agencies, K12, higher

Women in Space Film.
Students, faculty and
staff are invited to see the film,
"Women in Space: Profiles of the First
American Women Astronauts" to be shown
in the WVU Parkersburg Theatre (Room
1305) from 11:00 to 11:55 a.m., Monday,
March 19. The film features candid
interviews with the first U.S. women
astronauts to venture into space.
Included footage reveals some of the
incredible views of outer space that
these astronauts enjoyed while
completing their missions. The film is
being shown as part of the Social
Justice Awareness Film Series in
observance of Women's History Month.

History Alive
Portrayal.
Faculty, staff and students are invited to
attend a
History Alive! portrayal of "Mad"
Anne Bailey, frontier scout, on Wednesday,
March 14. An interactive program, the
audience will have an opportunity to engage
in a dialogue with the character portrayed
by Patty Sue Cooper. Certificates of
Professional Development will be issued to
employees who sign the attendance roster.
Faculty, please encourage your students to
attend and to participate in the dialogue
with their questions!

English Department
coordinator John Hoppenthaler has recently had a
number of poems accepted for publication in
Barrow Street, The Laurel Review, Inkwell, ABZ,

Vickie Stilgenbauer is the WVU at
Parkersburg Foundation’s March winner of the
Payroll Deduction Plan’s prize drawing. She has
won a $25 gift certificate for Barnes & Noble.
Prizes valued at over $125 have been given away
