MEMORIAL DAY WEEKEND. A reminder that the campus is closed Monday, May 30 in observance of the Memorial Day Holiday.
COMPUTER SERVICES INTERRUPTION.
Please note that some technology-related
services on campus will be interrupted beginning
at 2 p.m., Friday, May 20.
The Computer Center staff will be relocating
some IT equipment to the center's new location
in the lower level (the former old cafeteria
area). This will result in some services being
interrupted while the transfer is made. During
this time, please note that student email, the
college website, R25, and access to shared
network folders will not be available. Banner,
OLSIS, MAP and the Internet (including
GroupWise) will be available as usual. It
is expected this equipment relocation process
will take one to two hours. Please refer
questions to Jeff Wilbur, ext. 650.
AMBER
CODE.
When the campus is under a
Code Amber, campus security, maintenance staff and custodians are to report immediately to assigned exterior doors. The code refers to the suspected abduction of a child. Know the Codes! Check the back of your employee ID card. (Submitted 5/9/11)

FURNITURE. Please refrain from
placing unwanted/unneeded office furniture in the
hallways. If you have furniture you wish to
discard, contact the College Facilities staff so

R25 IMPLEMENTATION. The
college is implementing a new on-line reservation
system for campus space/events. R25 is a
web-based publishing system designed to coordinate
campus space and resource utilization and to provide
access to a web calendar of campus events.
Further information about R25 is available in the
left-hand column; a button is also located there to
submit space/event requests as well as an R25 button
which connects to the web calendar. Questions should

TUITION
WAIVER PROGRAM.
Employees seeking to use the WVU
Parkersburg Faculty and Staff Tuition Waiver
Program for themselves, a spouse,
or dependent student,
as defined in WVU-P
Board of Governors Policy B-55, must complete
the application form and submit it to the
Student Services Office (Room 1209) by
May 1 for the Fall 2011 term. A new
application is required for each semester; only current students who have applied for

Several of the services offered by the Parkersburg
regional office of the
WV Department of Motor Vehicles are now being
provided on a temporary basis at the campus'
Workforce and Community Education complex.

CODE. If the campus is under "Code
Red," do you know
what that means? As a reminder, the network of tv monitors is
featuring weekly slides which define the five codes that
are a part of the campus (and JCC) Safety Plan.
Know the code. You can also check your knowledge of the codes by
looking on the back of your campus ID card.

CLASSIFIED STAFF ELECTION. This
year's classified staff election will be paperless.
The election for Classified Staff Chair, Advisory
Council of Classified Employees Representative,
Staff Council Representatives and Employee of the
Year will be held from 8:00 a.m., Monday, April 18,
until noon, Wednesday, April 20. Classified staff
will find instructions about the e-voting
process in an e-mail.

DMV ON
CAMPUS. You may have read or
heard media reports that some operations of the
Parkersburg office of the WV Department of Motor
Vehicles will be relocated here
on a temporary basis. The college
is providing space to the DMV in the Workforce
and Community Education complex. Classes
and some offices in WCE are being rearranged to accommodate the DMV which plans to offer testing services here. (Submitted 4/14/11)
CLASS DEBATE INVITE. The
SOC 105 Introduction to Anthropology
class invites the campus community to attend
its class debate at 4 p.m., Tuesday (April
19) in Room 2537. Topic for debate
will be:
Did the development of agriculture (crops
and animal husbandry) positively impact the
development of humankind?
Judges will be Kim Korcsmaros, instructor of
speech; Anthony Underwood, vice president
for Student Services and Ron Dennis, risk
management specialist, Nationwide
Agribusiness.

RECORDED
PROGRAMS. Two programs sponsored by
the Social Justice Committee are available in
DVD format for viewing by students and
employees. They are the March 28th portrayal of
Victoria Woodhull by Betty Leavengood and the
March 30th "Let's Talk Religion" panel
discussion. Copies are available in the library
in Parkersburg and at the Jackson County Center
for students to view. Copies are also available
from Debbie Richards in the President's Office

POETRY
READING.
An April
14th Evening of Poetry will feature college faculty
in a celebration of National Poetry Month and the
college's 50th anniversary. The 6:30 p.m. program
will be held in the College Theatre (Room 1305).
Featured will be faculty members Sandra Kolankiewicz,
Martha McGovern, Maggie Berdine, and Ryan Havely.
Faculty are encouraged to bring their evening class(es)
to the free reading which will include refreshments. (Submitted by Ryan

CAREER FAIRS APRIL 13.
WVU Parkersburg faculty and employees are reminded of
two campus Career Fairs on Wednesday, April 13. The
first fair, including all occupations except education,
is in the Multi-purpose Room from 10 am to 1 pm. The
second fair, featuring education only, is in the
Community Room (#1300) from 4 pm to 6:30 pm. Food will
be provided and students who attend will be eligible for
a $50 gas card drawing. Sign-in sheet will be provided
for students required to attend for course credit.
