  • PEIA Weight Management Program.   PEIA offers a weight management program at approved sites throughout the state.  The services of a dietitian, an exercise physiologist and personal trainers as well access to a fitness facility are some of the services available locally.  Request a brochure from Human Resources.   (Submitted by Peggy Jameson 3/30/10)
  • DVD’s Available.  A limited number of copies of the film “Divided We Fall: Americans in the Aftermath,” which premiered at WVU Parkersburg last Thursday, is available in DVD format for the discount price of $20 through Friday, April 9.  (It sells for $24.95 on Amazon.com.)  The DVD’s are located in the Business Office and will be sold on a first come, first served basis while they last.   (Submitted by Debbie Richards 3/30/10)
  • Welcome to… Linda Hickman who started as a Mountaineer Temporary March 29th in the Reception/Switchboard area.  Also, welcome to new ManPower employee, Eric Belcher, who is assisting in the Purchasing area for a few weeks.  (Submitted by Peggy Jameson 3/29/10)
  • Transportation/Registration for Conference. Last call for anyone who is interested in the group transportation to attend the April 8th "Diversity in the Academy" conference at the Charleston Marriott.  Reservations for van rentals must be confirmed by March 31.  To reserve a seat, call Debbie Richards at Ext. 201. If you would like to attend the conference, but have not yet registered, online registration is still open this week and spaces are filling fast.  Refer to the March 22nd e-mail message from President Gnage for further details.   (Submitted by Debbie Richards 3/29/10)
  • Tuition Waiver Applications.  The Division of Student Services is now accepting applications for Faculty and Staff Tuition Waivers for the Fall 2010 semester.  Deadline for applying for a waiver is May 1, 2010.  MORE  (Submitted by Anthony Underwood 3/26/10)
  • Lost and Found.  The campus' Lost and Found is now located at the Information Desk.  Items found on campus should be turned into the switchboard; items lost can be checked for there as well.  (Submitted 3/26/10)
  • Sympathy Note.  Faculty member Cathy Mutz's mother Louise Culina died March 26 in Parkersburg.  MORE  (Submitted 3/26/10)
  • Congratulations!  Be sure to congratulate the newly awarded Dr. David Lancaster, associate professor of education.  (Submitted 3/25/10)
  • Sympathy Note.  Carson Soelberg, former Theatre instructor at WVU Parkersburg, died unexpectedly March 22.  The 58-year-old had been on the staff at Jackson Community College in Michigan.
  • TIAA Representative on Campus.  David Alderson from TIAA will be on campus April 7 and 8.  We have scheduled those employees who did not get to speak with TIAA in the fall.  There are six openings remaining.  Interested employees should contact Nancy Hindy, Ext 290 for an appointment.  (Submitted by Peggy Jameson 3/24/10)

  • Tuition Waiver Deadline.  The priority deadline for waiver allocations is April 16, 2010 for the Summer 2010 semester.   All memos, policies, forms, and a listing of academic graduate tuition waiver designees is available at the WVU Graduate Education website.  Questions concerning waivers should be directed to the Office of Graduate Education and Life at GradEd@mail.wvu.edu.  (Submitted by Peggy Jameson 3/23/10)

  • Open Enrollment for WVU Parkersburg Benefits is April 1-30.  Benefits-eligible WVU Parkersburg faculty and staff have the opportunity to enroll, re-enroll, change, cancel or add to the following benefit plans only during Open Enrollment, April 1-30:  Public Employees Insurance Agency (PEIA) -  Health Insurance Plan, and Fringe Benefits Management Company (FBMC) - Mountaineer Flexible Benefits Plan (dental insurance, vision insurance, flexible spending accounts, disability insurance, and legal plan).  An Employee Benefits Deduction Summary will be delivered with the March 31t payroll.  A PEIA and FBMC Shopper’s guides, will be mailed to each employee’s home address in April.  For further details, visit the Division of Human Resources website at www.hr.wvu.edu/ or contact WVU Benefits Administration at 304.293.5700x4.  (Submitted by Peggy Jameson 3/15/10)

  • Reflections of Artsbridge.  The Parkersburg Art Center is partnering with Artsbridge in a "Reflections of Artsbridge" event to be held at 5:30 p.m., Friday (March 26) at the Art Center.  Featured will be a live auction of mirror artworks by area artists, an hors d'oeuvres buffet, dessert samplings and a sneak preview by the Actors Guild's cast of "Man of La Mancha."  Tickets are $10 and will be available at the door.  Proceeds benefit Artsbridge and the Art Center.  (Submitted 3/24/10)
  • On-Site Review.  Keith Hubert, Federal Project Officer with the U.S. Department of Labor, will visit WVU Parkersburg March 23-25 to conduct an on-site monitoring review regarding the college's technology-based learning initiative.  The DOL grant is designed  to implement a technology-based nurse education training program and establish healthcare training opportunities in rural communities to address the need for nurses in the region.  (Submitted by Dina Braniff 3/23/10)
  • Retirement and Benefit Sessions Offered.  On March 25, Jim Whetsel will be on campus to give a Retirement overview session from 10:30 AM to 12:00 noon. Also, from 1:00 PM to 2:30 PM, he will offer a presentation on Benefits.  Both presentations will be offered in the Community Room.   • Wellness Works.  Get on board with "Wellness Works" and enjoy the satisfaction of a successful journey to a healthier lifestyle.  No matter what you desire to change or improve, this campus program will supply you with the tools you need for success.  This free six-week program has two sessions (11:15-11:45 a.m. and 11:45 a.m. -12:15 p.m.) to choose from and begins Monday, March 22nd.  Class size is limited so register soon by contacting Pamela Santer at 304-424-8205.  Brochures with additional information are available in various campus offices.  (Submitted by Pamela Santer 3/12/10)

  • New Student Services Staff Member.  Abigail Bowers is the new Office Administrator in Student Services.  Abby served a temporary appointment in the WVU Parkersburg Co-Op office a few months ago and has experience working for several colleges and the WV Higher Education Policy Commission.  She will start March 15th(Submitted by Peggy Jameson 3/10/10)
