  • ORACLE Training Termed A Success.  Twenty college personnel, including deans, division chairs, directors and other budget managers, attended the ORACLE Budget Training offered by the Business Office Sept. 9-11.  Budget training had not been offered on campus since 1999 when the campus switched to ORACLE in preparation for Y2K. The training objectives included direction on running budgets and printing them in Word or Excel. Training packets included instructions, revenue and expenditure line item listings and descriptions, departmental activity listings and raw budget data. After the hands-on computer budget exercise, Dina Braniff gave a presentation on the various component parts making up the report, including where to look on reports to identify vendors, who holds responsibility for data in various report sections, and guidance on resolving problems with budget data. It is the hope of the Business Office to repeat this training annually in order to keep budget managers across campus equipped with the skills they need to manage budgets.  (Submitted  by Chris Clifford 9/15/09
