- Water Miser. It seems like only a year ago when the campus HVAC (read "air conditioning") was dismantled to install more efficient systems. Other energy-saving initiatives included new water-saver commodes/urinals, chillers, hot water boilers and other enhancements -- all designed to impact the college's energy and water usage. So, how well is the energy saving project working? Well, here's one indication: up until last summer, the college used 1.5 million gallons of water a month. Now? A mere 55,000 gallons per month.
