  • Campus Leadership Workshop.  A workshop, "Leadership is Everyone's Business," will be held on campus Friday, March 27, from 8:30 a.m. - Noon.  The campus community is encouraged to participate in the session, to be conducted by Bob D'Avria.  Space is limited to 25 participants.  Link to workshop brochure is here (Submitted 2/28/09)
  • Campus Budget Overview.  Feb. 25th presentation (comment icons in left-hand corner access notes)
  • Oral Health Program.  The Health Sciences Division is sponsoring a free Oral Health program during campus engagement time from 11 a.m. to 12:30 p.m., Wednesday (March 4) in the multi-purpose room.  Pam Mills, an oral educator, will provide basic oral care information and NURS 213 students will display poster presentations.  In addition, free toothbrushes, toothpaste and floss will be distributed.  (Submitted by Rose Beebe 3/2/09)

  • Sick leave buyout program offered by state.  On Oct. 28, 2008, the Office of the Secretary in the WV Department of Administration distributed procedures for eligible state employees to surrender a portion of their unused sick leave for a taxable cash benefit. This program is only for employees eligible to use sick leave for retiree health insurance.  Program requirements are listed here (Submitted by HR 2/24/09)
  • House for Rent.  Three-bedroom house in Walker for rent located on 3+ acres. New oven/range and refrigerator in house. Considerable upgrades just completed.   • Foundation Center Workshop.  If you are looking for grant money for yourself or your organization, the library is holding an instruction session on the Foundation Center Online database. This covers 80,000 foundations that award a half a million grants. The workshop is scheduled for Saturday, March 14 at 10AM in the library.   • State Car Credit Cards.  The college has been experiencing difficulty with Exxon gas credit cards from time to time. As such, WVU Parkersburg has entered into an agreement with Marathon to use its gas credit cards with State vehicles. New cards should arrive shortly.   • Author Presentation.   This is a reminder that author Sylvester Myers will make a presentation to our campus on Wednesday, Feb. 18, at 11 a.m. in the theatre.  He will show the DVD sequel to his book, “From Coal Fields to Oil Fields & Beyond—A Life in Pursuit of All I Could Be,” and will answer your questions about his inspiring story.  Copies of his book and DVD will be available for purchase at the signing to follow the presentation.  (Submitted by Debbie Richards 2/16/09)

  • Limited tickets remain!  The deadline for purchasing tickets for the Ballet Hispanico bus trip is Feb. 12 but only a few tickets remain at the discounted price of $10.  Purchase your ticket in the Business Office as soon as possible to avoid disappointment.  Regular-price tickets remain available at the Clay Center.   • Ballet Hispanico. The college's Office for Global Initiatives is sponsoring a Feb. 27th trip to the Clay Center in Charleston to attend an 8 p.m. performance by Ballet Hispanico. This exciting dance group has impressed audiences worldwide with its amazing energy and innovative style, fusing Latin dance with classical techniques. Free bus transportation will be provided by WVU Parkersburg; the bus will depart from the Multipurpose Room entrance at 5:30 p.m. and stop at the Jackson County Center. JCC participants should assemble by 6 p.m. Tickets are $10 each and may be purchased in the Business Office or at JCC. The program is open to students, faculty, staff, and guests. Some restrictions apply. Deadline for purchasing tickets is 4 p.m., Feb. 12.   • Happy 200th Birthday, Darwin! WVU Parkersburg's Interdisciplinary Conversations will sponsor a presentation on Monday, Feb. 9, in the Aerobics Room, during Engagement Hour (11 a.m. -12:15 p.m.).  Donning Darwin's hat, Ed Crisp will review Darwin's early life and reveal the evolution of his theory. Then, flying over the current scientific landscape, Nancy Dew will present evidence which suggests that evolution and natural selection are happening today.
