Employee of the Month for February

Tom Yencha

Congratulations to Tom Yencha, Student Activities Director, who has been selected as Employee of the Month for February, 2009.

Tom began working in Student Services at WVU Parkersburg on August 1, 1984.  Tom received his AAS Degree from Parkersburg Community College, a BS Degree from Glenville State College, and MS Degree from WVU.  He has served on the WVU Parkersburg Facilities Committee, chaired Staff Council’s Casino Night and Alternative Lunch committee, is a member of WVU at Parkersburg Relay for Life team and the American Heart Walk team.

Tom lives in north Parkersburg with his wife Vicki (WVU Parkersburg’s September Employee of the Month).  He has two daughters – Bethany (21) Moriah (15), and one-year old grandson Dre’.

In his spare time, he enjoys being active and playing sports – volleyball, golf, tennis, softball & basketball.  He enjoys camping with his family and fishing.  He and wife Vicki, both Master Gardener’s, enjoy working outdoors in the summer.

Following is an excerpt from the nominations that served as the basis for Tom’s selection as Employee of the Month:

“I have worked with Tom for 14 years, and I can’t remember anytime that he didn’t have a smile on his face.  He works with the students and their activities and does a fine job…just ask the students.  He is one of the undiscovered gems of West Virginia University at Parkersburg.  Tom helps many off campus organizations with activities that benefit West Virginia University at Parkersburg students.  Much of what Tom does goes unnoticed by other staff, but students know how valuable he is to West Virginia University at Parkersburg.”

The Employee of the Month program is sponsored by the WVU Parkersburg Staff Council.
Nominations may be submitted to Karen Branham in accordance with the guidelines established by Staff Council.
