- Be Smart About the Flu. WVU Parkersburg has launched a web site, "Be Smart About the Flu," to serve as a campus clearinghouse of information regarding the flu. The site will be updated regularly and serve as the college's one-stop source for information regarding H1N1 and seasonal flu. (Submitted 8/25/09)

- Recycling Bottles. Response to campus recycling is growing. Thanks for participating. Please make sure the bottles you recycle in the campus bins are empty and do not contain any liquids. (Submitted 8/31/09)

- College-Issued Cell Phone Users: Verizon will be on campus Sept. 1 at 10 am in Room 1004 for the existing college cell phone users who have not already been switched over to the new contract. Please bring your current phone with you so we can have all the information switched to your new device. - Chronicle Available. The Chronicle of Higher Education is available online to faculty, staff and students through access from campus computers. The Chronicle's web site features the complete contents of the latest issue as well as other higher education updates. The link is http://chronicle.com without the requirement of a user name or password. (Submitted 8/19/09)
- Lecture, Film Presentations. The Office for Global Initiatives is presenting two events during Welcome Back Week. Dr. Pablo Garcia, assistant professor of Spanish at West Virginia University, will discuss "The Effect of Colonialism on Mexico's Relations with the U.S." Monday (August 24) at 7:30 p.m. in the Theatre (Room 1305). A question and answer session will follow. A film showing is planned Tuesday (August 25) at 7:30 p.m. in the theatre. Both events are free and open to the public. - Location FYI. Effective now, Vanora (Sam) Sams will be located in Room 1207 - Office for Non-Traditional Programs - serving as Information Assistant. She will continue to answer incoming switchboard phone calls and monitor the BOGEN system between 4:00 and 10:00 p.m. In addition, this move enables her to better serve our non-traditional students after normal office hours. - Outstanding Alumni Awards Nomination. Deadline for submissions for the American Association of Community Colleges' 2010 Outstanding Alumni Awards is Sept. 4. Nominees should reflect national prominence. Nomination materials are available on-line. (Submitted 8/6/09)
