Employee of the Month for May

Congratulations to Michelle Bissell, Program Assistant II, who has been selected as Employee of the Month for May!

Michelle has been a member of the West Virginia University at Parkersburg staff since March, 2007 in the President’s Office.

Michelle is a graduate of Marietta College with a Bachelor of Arts degree.  She is currently pursuing a graduate degree from West Virginia University.  She is a member of the West Virginia University at Parkersburg Social Justice Committee, and secretary for both the Safety Committee and the Facilities Planning Task Force.

She lives in Tuppers Plains, Ohio with her beagle, Mattie.

During her free time Michelle enjoys reading, hiking, camping, painting, and watching football.  Michelle volunteers for the Chelsea Foundation, Women’s Club, and the Tau Alpha chapter of Chi Omega.

Michelle expressed her gratitude for being selected Employee of the Month by saying “thank you so much for choosing me!  I feel very lucky to be part of this campus community.”

Following are excerpts from the nominations that served as the basis for Michelle’s selection as Employee of the Month:

I would like to nominate Michelle Bissell for Employee of the Month.  Michelle has been employed at the college just under a year, but what a difference she has made. Michelle has been a tremendous support to the President's Office, but more importantly her assistance to the President's Safety Committee has helped all of us become more safe and more safety conscious.  Michelle is always willing to tackle her assignments with a smile (even participating as a hostage for the SWAT team).  Michelle is a very welcomed newcomer to the WVU Parkersburg family and deserves to be named Employee of the Month.”

“I would like to nominate Michelle Bissell for Staff Person of the Month.  I asked Michelle at the beginning of the semester to take over the responsibilities associated with the Schoolhouse Project--a new program that trains employees in safety matters. She has done an excellent job and continues to make our college look great because of the quality of her work.“

“I would like to take this opportunity to voice my opinion on a candidate for employee of the month Michelle Bissell. Michelle works for me 20% of her schedule she is one of the hardest working, most knowledgeable people I have ever worked with. She is very dependable, computer savvy, dedicated to the college and I feel she deserves some recognition. Michelle has been very active with the safety of the college from putting into place a safety web site, coordinating the driving test, handling all MSDS sheets and putting on a line a safety test for all employees. Michelle is a member of the safety committee and also on the Facilities Task force committee. Let’s give her an at-a-girl for all her hard work and make her a well deserved EMPLOYEE OF THE MONTH.”
