Payroll Deduction
Winner.
Martha Leeson has won a $25 gift certificate from Belk’s
Department Store because of her participation in the Payroll
Deduction Program. Over $900 in prizes have been distributed to
payroll deduction participants in the past year. Don’t forget -
the payroll deduction program is a great way to support the new
Child Development Center. Forms are available at the Foundation
Office or by calling ext. 340.

Commemorative Stamp
Unveiling. Faculty,
staff and students are invited to attend a special campus
ceremony Monday, Feb. 4, of the unveiling of the 2008 Black
Heritage Commemorative U.S. Postage Stamp. The program will be
held at 11 a.m. in the Community Room. Door prizes and
refreshments will be featured.

Sealed Bids.
WVU Parkersburg will receive sealed bids for the lot sale of
a several items. The items may be inspected on Feb. 6th between
1:00-3:00 p.m. by contacting Kevin Offenberger at (304) 424-8000
ext 429. A list of the items for bid can be found on the
Purchasing Bid Board outside of the Business Office. Bids must
be received by 3 p.m., Feb. 13. Contact Kevin regarding bid

National Red Day.
National Wear Red Day is Feb. 1. Support Go Red For Women
and raise awareness of heart disease, the No. 1 killer of women,
by wearing red! Men can raise awareness of heart disease by
also wearing red.

MSDS Submissions
Reminder.
Please remember to submit any new MSDS sheets to Dave White.
MSDS (Material Safety Data Sheets) for chemical substances are
recorded in a catalog, and this is provided to the fire
department so they can plan their response in the event of an

Symphony
in Steel Concert.
The Distinguished Performance Series
is pleased to present Ellie Mannette and West Virginia
University's "Symphony in Steel" in concert on Saturday,
February 9, at 8 PM in the College Activities Center. Tickets
are on sale in the business office. Remember
that WVU Parkersburg faculty and staff may purchase special
advance tickets for themselves and one guest for $5 each. We
anticipate this performance will be popular. Buy your tickets
early so you won't be disappointed.

Presentation.
Award-winning nature photographer Jim
Clark will give a presentation from 4 to 5 p.m., Monday (Jan.
28) in the Theatre.
His articles and images have appeared in publications
such as Outdoor Photographer, Nature’s Best, Wildlife
Refuge, Nature Conservancy, National
Wildlife, Wonderful West Virginia, Birders World,
Country, Nature Photographer, and Outdoor & Nature Photographer.
The free program is open to the public.

Dedication.
You
are cordially invited to join us at 10 a.m., Monday (Jan. 28) in the Little Theatre for the dedication of WVU Parkersburg’s new Center for Leadership
Development and the launch of the inaugural class of the
WVU
Parkersburg Leadership Academy. Guest speaker for the
dedication is former WVU President Dave Hardesty who will speak
on “Ten Habits of Highly Successful Organizations.”
Following Dr. Hardesty’s address, you
are invited to attend the ribbon cutting of the Center for
Leadership Development located in the back of the Library.
Following the ribbon cutting, you are invited to tour the new
Center and enjoy light refreshments.

Presentations.
Nursing
students will display cancer information posters on Monday (Jan.
28) from 11 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. in the cafeteria hallway area. Visit the
presentations to learn: the risk factors of cancer and
how you can protect yourself and what screening tests are

Admissions/Records
Hours Changing.
Beginning Monday, Feb. 4, 2008, the Admissions & Records
Office will be open 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, Tuesday,
Wednesday, and Friday and 8 a.m. to 7 p.m. on Thursday.
This will align office hours with many other campus offices.

Facility Request Form.
A new on-line College Facility Request
form is available.
It can be accessed from the Intranet's
Forms link or the
Faculty/Staff Info
page. This form is to
request any use of facilities for special events or functions.
Any use of rooms at WVU Parkersburg outside regularly-scheduled
academic courses must be scheduled through this system. It
is managed through the Corporate and Community Education
division. Contact J.B. Skidmore for additional
information.

UPS
Drop Box.
WVU and its regional
campuses have entered into a contract to ship packages overnight
via UPS. A drop box is located on the back loading dock that can
be used for personal shipments. Shipments will be picked up
daily at approximately 6 p.m.. Individuals will need a personal
credit card in order to use this service. The drop box contains
all envelopes and mailing labels. College shipments will also
use UPS in most instances. These shipments will continue to be
brought to Purchasing and charged to the appropriate budget
code. DO NOT place official packages in the drop box. Contact

Electronic
Purchase Requisitions.
As part of its
automation of procurement, the Purchasing Department is
accepting electronic purchase requisitions. The form can be
accessed on the
WVU Parkersburg Intranet
Forms link or the
Faculty/Staff Info page. Electronic requisitions should be sent
to
wvuppurchasing@mail.wvu.edu as an attachment to an email.
The email (requisition) must come from the funds' administrator
having spending authority over the applicable budget.

Social
Justice Film Series. To review this semester's Social
Justice Film Series schedule, visit the SJ
home page
and click on "Film Series." Films are offered free of charge
under the educational exemption so that students may attend for
class credit and are designed to add value to courses in
history, sociology, humanities and other disciplines. Faculty
are asked to offer course credit for student attendance when
possible and to suggest to your Social Justice Committee faculty
representative films you would like to see included in the
future. Faculty and staff are also welcome to attend the films.

The library has purchased a Kindle, Amazon's new electronic
book reader. Faculty and staff may borrow the Kindle for three
days to examine this impressive technology. Students may use the

WV Gov. Joe Manchin’s fourth State of
the State message will be broadcast live on the Internet,
starting at 7 p.m. on Wednesday (Jan. 9). To view the address
live, Internet users should visit the
home
page of the Governor’s Office and click on the
State of the State icon. In addition, West Virginia
Public Broadcasting, West Virginia Public Radio and various
