December Employee of the Month
Linda Dotson
Congratulations to Linda Dotson, Administrative Secretary Sr., for the WVU Parkersburg Social Sciences Division. Linda has been selected as Employee of the Month for December.
Linda worked as a student assistant in the President’s Office for three years and as a Mountaineer Temp/Social Sciences before being permanently hired in the Social Sciences Division in January, 2008. She graduated Summa Cum Laude in May, 2007, with a Regents Bachelor of Arts Degree and a Board of Governors' Associate in Applied Science Degree.
Linda has been an active participant of the campus community as a member of Phi Theta Kappa; she has served as a WVU Parkersburg Student Ambassador, a member of the WVU at Parkersburg Honor’s Council and the recipient of the WVU Women’s Leadership Recognition Award.
Linda and her husband John live in south Parkersburg. She has two sons and three granddaughters. Linda said that since the nest is empty at home she has adopted and spoiled three cats and feeds every stray that comes into the neighborhood.
In her spare time Linda loves to watch football, especially WVU. She is an avid reader, loves crossword puzzles, teaches a women’s group at church, and spends as much time as possible with her granddaughters. She also enjoys doing genealogical research of her family and that of her husband.
Linda expressed her gratitude for being selected Employee of the Month and said “I love working at WVUP and serving the students, faculty, and administration. I appreciate being selected as employee of the month, and constantly strive to be the best employee I can be."
Following are excerpts from the nominations that served as the basis for Linda’s selection as Employee of the Month:
“Linda is a positive part of the Social Services division for many reasons. She is a hard worker, wants to help others, assists students, and goes “the extra.” I appreciate how and what she does for West Virginia University at Parkersburg!”
“Linda’s work ethic and dedication to her job and its responsibilities are excellent. She displays a positive “can do” attitude and a team player. She is eager to learn new skills and works cooperatively with others.”
The Employee of the Month program is sponsored by the WVU Parkersburg Staff Council.
Nominations may be submitted to Karen Branham in accordance with the guidelines established by Staff Council.
