Upcoming Concert.  Bulgarian Project to host "Sweet Romance" concert March 11.  The event will feature WVU Parkersburg faculty and friends in an afternoon of love songs followed by a dessert reception in the college’s Community Room.  MORE  (Submitted by Rebecca Phillips 2/21/07)

WVU Parkersburg hosting state forensics tournament.   Speech teams from five institutions will be participating in the two-day tourney to be held Friday (Feb. 23) and Saturday (Feb. 24).  MORE  (Submitted by Lawrence McKenzie 2/21/07)

Commemorative Stamp Unveiling.  Students, faculty and staff are invited to the unveiling of the 2007 Black Heritage Commemorative U.S. Postage Stamp on Monday, February 26, at 11:00 a.m. in the WVU Parkersburg auditorium (Room 1305).  MORE  (Submitted by Debbie Richards 2/21/07)

WVU Basketball Bus Trip.  The WVU at Parkersburg Foundation is sponsoring a bus trip to the sold-out March 3rd basketball game between the WVU Mountaineers and the Cincinnati Bearcats.  MORE  (Submitted by Jenny Keup 2/20/07)

Theatre Production.  "The Vagina Monologues" by Eve Ensler will be presented Friday & Saturday, February 23 & 24 at 8:00 P.M. in The College Theatre.  A special "Sneak Peek Performance & Discussion" offered especially for WVU Parkersburg students will be staged Thursday, February 22, at 8:00 P.M.  A discussion with the cast and director will follow the performance.  MORE  (Submitted by Carson Soelberg 2/19/07)

"What was Postmodernism" Discussion.  The Humanities Speakers Series will present Brian McHale, Distinguished Humanities Professor at Ohio State University, in a presentation Thursday (Feb. 22).   Professional Development Certificates will be issued for all attending faculty.  MORE  (Submitted by John Hoppenthaler 2/13/07)

Speakers Series Presentation.  WVU Parkersburg's Humanities Speakers Series will host an Australian professor Wednesday (Feb. 21) in a discussion of "Lost and Found in Translation."  MORE  (Submitted by Nancy Nanney 2/15/07)

Daylight Saving Time Changes Affect Online Calendars. Daylight Saving Time (DST) has expanded a total of four weeks to include the periods from March 11 through March 31 and October 28 through November 4.  MORE  (Submitted by Jessie Waas 2/13/07)

Video Available.  WVU Parkersburg employees or students who missed the February 5 Tuskegee Airmen presentation by retired USAF Colonel Charles McGee and his daughter, Dr. Charlene Smith, may visit the Media Center to see a video tape of the presentation. As of February 12, the Bookstore has only three copies left of the book, "Tuskegee Airman: The Biography of Charles E. McGee."  (Submitted by Debbie Richards 2/12/07)

Sumner Day.  WVU Parkersburg will celebrate "Sumner Day" on Monday, February 12. In observance of Black History Month, the WVU Parkersburg Social Justice Committee has partnered with the Sumnerite African-American History Museum and Multipurpose Center, Emmanuel Ogwude's Film Documentary class, and Gregg Busch's Sociology 405 class to present a special awareness program about this historical site located in Parkersburg. Students, faculty and staff are invited to attend the program scheduled for 11:00 a.m. in the auditorium (Room 1305). The program will include a video tour of the museum, a question and answer period, and cake and punch reception.  (Submitted by Debbie Richards 2/7/07)

HR Schedules Retirement Planning Sessions.  Retirement Planning Sessions are scheduled on February 8th at 10 AM and 1:30 PM in the Community Room. Sweet Romance from the Bulgaria Project.  The Bulgaria Project is sponsoring one last concert for the academic year on Sunday, March 11, at 2:00 p.m. in the college theatre. “Sweet Romance: An Afternoon of Love Songs” will conclude with a dessert reception in the community room. The already-confirmed performers include Jim Petry and Marymary, the Professors Trio (George Lamb, Gene Barry, and Claude Deegan), Chase Brady, and (their first appearance as a duo) Carson Soelberg and President Marie Foster Gnage. National Healthy Heart Month.  February is National Healthy Heart Month. The 2nd is Wear Red Day to make people aware of how serious heart disease is for all but especially women. On our campus for men and women, let's wear red on Feb 14 to make people aware.  Also, on Feb. 14, have your blood pressure taken and enjoy the opportunities offered at student engagement time.  Reminder: National Woman's Heart Day is February 16.  (Submitted by Charlene McNulty 2/2/07)

Payroll Deduction Winner.  Don Carlson has won the February Payroll Deduction drawing. He will receive a $50.00 'Bus Pass' to the Foundation's Road Trip to Morgantown on March 3, when the Mountaineer Men's Basketball Team will be playing against Cincinnati - their last home game of the season!  (Submitted by Jenny Keup 2/1/07)
