West Virginia University at Parkersburg has made a landmark move to begin offering in-state tuition to all students accepted into its three online baccalaureate degree programs. These programs include the Bachelor of Applied Science in Child Development, Bachelor of Science in Nursing, and Bachelor of Applied Science in Supervisory Management.

Currently, WVU Parkersburg offers the lowest bachelor degree tuition in the state and is ranked among the top 50 most affordable 4-year colleges in the nation according to the U.S. Department of Education. In April, the Board of Governor’s voted to allow students from any state to enroll in these three programs at the same rate as in-state students beginning with the 2017-2018 academic year. The new rates will reduce tuition costs for out-of-state students pursing these degrees by nearly 40 percent.

The online Bachelor of Applied Science (B.A.S.) in Child Development is offered to meet the demands of this growing field. In West Virginia, educational requirements for child care providers and preschool teachers are increasing, and the demand for qualified early childhood professionals is on the rise. With this program, students learn how to educate and care for children between the ages of birth and 5 years, with the goal to provide learning environments that will lead to their social, emotional, cognitive and physical development.

The online Registered Nurse to Bachelor of Science (B.S.) in Nursing degree program, or RN-to-BSN program, is designed for practicing, licensed registered nurses (RNs) who wish to continue their education without interrupting their employment. WVU Parkersburg was the first community and technical college in the state to offer a RN to BSN program in 2014, which is accredited by the Accreditation Commission for Education in Nursing.

The B.A.S. in Supervisory Management at WVU Parkersburg prepares Associate of Applied Science (A.A.S.) graduates for a management career. Upon completion of this program, students will be able to apply business concepts in real-world settings and communicate effectively and professionally in the context of the business world. This program is available to students who have completed an A.A.S. degree at any West Virginia Community and Technical College.
